Talk Slower…

People who talk fast show that they don’t have much self-confidence. They want to finish what that have to say before anyone gets bored or says something else.

Just by making an effort to SLOW down what you are saying you will command a lot more respect and attention from others. It keeps them guessing and builds anticipation about what you will say next, making them feel like what you are about to say will be amazing and interesting, building a stronger connection between you both.

Be comfortable with silence…

Many people become very uncomfortable when there is silent gap in a conversation, and feel the need to fill it as soon as it appears. They nervously jump in and say ANYTHING just to keep the conversation going.

Letting silence do its thing is one of the best ways to display comfort and control over yourself and others. It also develops suspense and more interest, which in turn generates a greater connection between you and your group.

Silence is also a great way to test the connection in an interaction. You can let the conversation trail off, and if she jumps in with an, “Um, sooo…what fun things do you like to do?” or any other silly question, you know that she is showing interest.
